A Surprise St Agnes Head Proposal | Cornwall Proposal Photographer
When Dogan got in touch with me on WhatsApp just a week before his planned proposal, I knew we had to move quickly. He already had a few ideas in mind, but with wedding season in full swing, I didn't have the chance to scout the far south of Cornwall around Kynance Cove which is where he initially liked the look of. Instead, I suggested somewhere a little closer to home that I knew would offer incredible views – St Agnes Head.
If you've never visited before, it's one of the most spectacular spots on the North Cornwall coast. With sweeping views across Chapel Porth Beach and the iconic Wheal Coates perched on the cliffs, it's hard to imagine a more dramatic backdrop for such a special moment, or any moment to be precise. Thankfully, Dogan trusted my recommendation, and I'm so glad he did as the photos came out incredible.
the Perfect Cornwall Proposal
Like most days in Cornwall, the weather couldn't quite make up its mind. We had sunshine, drizzle and everything in between throughout the day. But as the proposal approached, the sky went completely cloudy and muted which gave us this perfectly polished lighting.
The cloud cover softened the light, creating perfect conditions for capturing the moment, while the dramatic Cornish coastline looked as impressive as ever. As Dogan got down on one knee overlooking Chapel Porth, Ceyda was completely surprised. The incredible scenery made the moment feel even more unforgettable, and the views speak for themselves.
Exploring Chapel Porth & Wheal Coates
After the excitement of the proposal, we made the short drive down towards Wheal Coates and Chapel Porth Beach to celebrate with a relaxed engagement session and to take in the views.
These are two of my favourite locations in Cornwall as my wife works around the corner so I visit often with the kids and dogs. The combination of the historic engine houses, rugged cliffs, rolling waves and golden beach offers so much variety in such a short distance. It gave Dogan and Ceyda the chance to soak everything in while we captured a mixture of natural, relaxed and fun photographs together.
Engagement Photos Around St Agnes Head, Chapel Porth & Wheal Coates
After the proposal at St Agnes Head, we spent some time taking photographs around the clifftops before driving over to Wheal Coates. From there, we followed the coastal path down to Chapel Porth Beach, stopping along the way wherever the scenery worked well. The route offers a good variety of backdrops, from the historic engine house and rugged coastline to the beach below, although there wasn't to much beach as the tide was at its highest.
Rather than heavily posing couples, I prefer to keep things relaxed, encouraging natural movement and conversation throughout the session. This allows the photographs to reflect the experience of the day naturally, capturing genuine moments as we explored the coastline together. We finished the session around Wheal Coates after walking back up from Chapel Porth. It's a straightforward route that combines some of Cornwall's best coastal scenery with a range of different locations, making it an excellent choice for an engagement session.
