Tunnels Beaches Wedding in Devon – Ezme & Tom
Ezme and Tom’s wedding at Tunnels Beaches in North Devon was the perfect example of how special a coastal wedding in the South West can be. As a Cornwall wedding photographer working across Devon and beyond, I get to photograph some incredible venues, but Tunnels Beaches always stands out for its unique setting, dramatic coastline, and relaxed atmosphere no matter the weather.
Located in Ilfracombe along the North Devon coastline, Tunnels Beaches is one of the most distinctive seaside wedding venues in the UK. Guests arrive through a series of hand-carved tunnels that open out onto a private beach, with panoramic sea views that create an unforgettable backdrop for a wedding day. The team at Tunnels have recently achieved a huge renovation and have extended the ceremony area and upgrades through the venue which was mesmerising to see in person.
Ezme and Tom were lucky enough to have a beautiful sunny spring wedding, with perfect conditions from start to finish. Their outdoor ceremony took place on the balcony, framed by the newly built pergola and stunning floral arrangements by Rosecombe Flowers. With the sea stretching out behind them, the whole setting felt relaxed, intimate, and effortlessly beautiful.
“Omg. I’m crying. Obsessed!!!!!!! You’re amazing. We love them so much. Thanks so much. Best photographer ever.”
From a documentary point of view, this day had everything. The confetti moment was full of energy as always, and the speeches were a real highlight. With contributions from the bridesmaid, best man, and the groom, there was a great mix of humour and emotion throughout. One of the most memorable moments came when Ezme’s dad got caught wiping away tears during the maid of honour’s speech; those genuine, unscripted reactions are always the moments that matter most. The reception space at Tunnels Beaches is ideal for this kind of storytelling photography, with soft natural light and uninterrupted views across the coastline. It creates such a clean, timeless look in the images while still feeling connected to the surroundings.
One of the biggest highlights for me personally was finally experiencing a proper golden hour at Tunnels Beaches. We made the most of the iconic tidal pool twice during the day; right before dinner and then again at sunset. The light during that second visit was unreal, easily one of my favourite moments to capture. Those quieter portraits by the water, away from the crowd, always bring a completely different energy to the day and give me time to show the couple how amazing the venue is.
Styling wise, everything came together perfectly with the thanks to Ezmes sister Hollie. Ezme looked incredible in her dress from So Gorgeous Brides, with hair by Pinned to Perfection and makeup by Isabelle Grace Makeup Artistry. The bridesmaids wore black dresses, paired with groomsmen in classic tuxes, creating a timeless, elegant look that worked beautifully against the dark cliffs in the backdrop.
The whole day had a relaxed, easygoing feel. Guests enjoyed a BBQ-style feast followed by ice cream, making the most of the sunshine rather than heading straight to a dance floor. In fact, most of the evening was spent outside, soaking up the views and that incredible spring weather; something that felt completely true to both the couple and the venue.
On a personal level, this wedding meant a lot. I’ve known Ezme for years; she actually looked after my daughter at nursery, so being asked to photograph her wedding was genuinely special. It was also great to see so many familiar faces from the nursery again too, which made the whole day feel even more relaxed and personal for me. Later in the evening, guests enjoyed music from Inspired Party and the Photobooth from Picture Blast, keeping the atmosphere fun and lively in their own way.
Capturing Ezme and Tom’s wedding at Tunnels Beaches was a reminder of why I love being a Cornwall wedding photographer. From emotional speeches to golden hour by the tidal pool, it was a day full of genuine moments, beautiful light, and a couple who truly made the most of every second.
