UK Wedding photography takes me to lots of wonderful places, and this Farm Wedding in Somerset was certainly one to remember especially with the sounds of cows in the background during the ceremony as just one thing to remember. Sarahs uncles farm has got to be one of the most unique venues I’ve been too and it is just down the road from my home. too. Sarah and Ricky had legally got married prior to their wedding day but still wanted to have the perfect day and invited all their friends and family at a later date and it’s no difficulty to see why.
The grounds had everything you needed to host a wedding; plenty of space around for the marquee and catering team, a unique Barn, picturesque views and lots of wedding photography opportunities everywhere you looked. Not to mention their list of wedding suppliers who helped create their dreams from Celfie providing picture perfect hair and makeup, Nomad BBQ supplying the delicious food during the wedding breakfast and Chewflorist supplying yet again superb flower arrangements, just to name a few.
As with most of my bookings, I arrived in the morning to meet with the Bride and her bridesmaids getting make up and hair done, to capture the moments and anticipation in the morning. I love this part of the day as there’s a real build up of excitement around me from dads anxious movements thinking about his speech later in the day, to the bridesmaids hiding from the camera it creates a series of storytelling photos. Sarah had 6 bridesmaids and several family members turned up throughout the morning but luckily the home had a huge conservatory for everything to relax in. There family cows were in the field next to us too which took some of the limelight in the photos.
3 hours on from arrival, it was time to leave the house and head to the farm after Sarahs first look with everyone, only to arrive to what can be described as an inferno. The barn the ceremony was being held in was roasting on one of the hottest days of the summer. The poor lads in their Marc Darcy suits were struggling with the heat unsurprisingly, in particular Ricky who wasn’t allowed outside incase the bride turned up so he shut had to sweat it out bless him. The room was stunning and I wish I could shoot every wedding in there but I just have to soak up this moment as I can’t see that happening as it is a working dairy farm. As mentioned above you could hear the cows being moved inside for milking; a real surreal moment.
I knew the day itself would be incredible as a lot of the guests I’ve met at countless other weddings and I know the shenanigans they get upto on the regular, and they didn’t disappoint. I was incredibly fond of the ‘Shoey’, which is as you might think… a pint in a shoe; Classy! One of the many favourite parts of the day through was the 10 minutes I septa with them shooting their portraits. We went up the road towards the bell tents their guests were sleeping in and the sun came shining through the trees for the perfect glow which you’ll find below.
Once again a massive thank you to Sarah and Ricky for choosing me to capture their wedding despite the near impossible heat to deal with at times, but it was totally worth it all! x
