This beautiful wedding at Pennard House in Somerset was an incredible day to photograph. Set in the countryside near Shepton Mallet, Pennard House is one of the most relaxed and characterful country house wedding venues in the South West.
As a documentary wedding photographer covering Somerset and the surrounding areas, venues like Pennard House are always a joy to photograph thanks to the gardens, historic architecture and stunning countryside views that surround the venue. The morning began inside the house, with a buzz of excitement as everyone prepared for the day ahead. Messina looked incredible in her gown from @thewhitecollection, with natural, radiant makeup by @mariamoonartistry and hair styled to perfection by @paris_bridal_hair. Around her, friends and family arranged homemade wedding flowers, with the msot beautiful vibrant colours, adding a personal touch that made the whole celebration feel so special.
The ceremony took place outside overlooking the house itself. An outdoor wedding at Pennard House feels like something from a dream; blue Somerset skies, surrounded by trees, and the kind of atmosphere where every guest is fully present. Messina and Sam’s vows were heartfelt and emotional, filled with both laughter and happy tears, and it was clear to everyone watching just how much they mean to each other all whilst Olivia, who Messina and Sam booked to run the ceremony added a spark of humour all whilst keeping it fresh and intimate.
After the ceremony, the celebration began in true summer style. Guests mingled on the lawns with Aperol Spritz in hand, the drink of the day, and enjoyed incredible food prepared by the talented Pennard House catering team. Among the highlights were the mac and cheese balls, which quickly became a favourite with everyone. These relaxed, joy-filled moments of laughter and conversation are what make weddings like this so memorable.
As evening approached, we took Messina and Sam for a quiet walk into the gardens to capture their portraits during golden hour. This is always one of my favourite parts of the day as a Somerset wedding photographer; the light is soft and warm, and couples finally have a chance to pause, take a breath, and soak in the fact that they’re now married. The photos are full of laughter, intimacy, and golden sunshine with a little drunken happiness also
This beautiful Pennard House wedding came together thanks to an amazing team of suppliers. The dress was from @thewhitecollection, makeup by @mariamoonartistry, hair by @paris_bridal_hair, venue and catering at @pennardhouse, and videography captured by @mtcreative_weddings. Every detail worked perfectly to create a day full of beauty and joy. Its no wonder that Pennard House is one of the most popular country house wedding venues in Somerset.

"Ryan’s communication from the get go was incredible. His website was so effortless to use and he really got to know us as a couple before the big day. On the day, he arrived when he said he would, he made his way around both the bridal party and grooms party getting ready and getting the most perfect candid shots that we wanted.
He made us feel so comfortable and was so easy to work with. He worked amazing with our videographer you would have thought they were a team! It was unreal! Ryan even helped me get my shoes on as we were rushing to do the dress reveal for the bridesmaid before walking down the aisle.
He captured the day perfectly, from the candid shots to the family and group photos he made everyone feel comfortable and the photoshoots ran so smoothly because of him.
He knew when the right time to take the photos were, he knew the best places at the venue take them, it was just so refreshing to follow his lead! After the wedding we got the photos back so quickly and because of his amazing editing and attention to detail, each one is perfect!
Thank you so much Ryan, I recommend you to everyone I know that’s getting married!"
